Vijay's 144 takes India to 311/4 on day one


Brisbane, Dec 17 (IANS): Opener Murali Vijay's (144) fifth century lifted India to 311 for four at the end of the first day's play in the second Test against Australia at the Gabba here Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Vijay continued his good run with the bat and forged a 124-run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane (not out 75) for the fourth wicket to put India in a comfortable position.

Rohit Sharma (not out 26) was batting with Rahane at the close of play.
