Dubai, Nov 26: A vast sea of humanity gathered at the Jebel Ali grounds. People from different labour camps watched an exciting Money Majlis Cricket Cup 16-over final match between Buhaleeba and Dubai Ports World and their favourite Bollywood star Jimmy Shergill. Jimmy was joined by the other members of the cast and crew of his recently released ongoing film -Rehguzar. Dubai Ports World won the final match.

Along with Jimmy Shergill, the Assistant Director General for General Project and Affairs, Dubai Municipality, Mr Essa Al Maidoor , Mr Pramod Manghat, Vice-President Operations and Mr Sudhesh Giriyan, Vice-President, Marketing , UAE Exchange distributed the prizes.

A large gathering witnessed participation from camp workers representing Dubai Ports World, DUTCO, Al Habtoor, GORICA, Khansaheb, Buhaleeba, Lamprell and Ghantoot.  The playing teams were cheered by their camp inmates as well as their neighbours. A large contingent of the organisers UAE Exchange and sponsors were also present on the occasion to witness the thrilling final match.

Air Arabia, Postcard Millionaire, Indian Overseas Bank, Desert Spring and HDFC joined hands with UAE Exchange to sponsor prizes for the winning team and individual winners.

On Nov 23 eve of the Money Majlis cricket Cup, Jimmy Shergill visited the Bu Haleeba labour camp to share real life experiences with them. Songs from the film and a trailer was played at the event. An on-spot quiz was arranged and camp workers won T-shirts, audio CDs and caps at the hands of their favourite star. An unassuming Jimmy stole their hearts when he joined them, took photographs and signed autographs and also danced with them. His latest film Rehguzar draws relevance with the camp life in UAE.

According to Mr Sudhir Shetty, COO and General Manager, UAE Exchange, “Both the events Money Majlis Meet The Star and Money Majlis CRICKET Cup have a synergy. It is our endeavour to promote performing arts, culture and sports as our corporate social responsibility. We believe that many of these camp residents who are deprived of entertainment and healthy sports activity should be served with such events.

The ongoing ‘Money Majlis’ promotion that concludes on November 30, 2006, offering in excess of Dhs. 1 million in prizes through fortnightly electronic draws and a mega draw to be held on 3 December. The Grand Draw would have 1 winner of AED 50,000 and 2 winners of AED 25,000 each. In addition 250 winners of Aabharan Jewellery Gift Vouchers each one of them winning AED 100/ worth of gift vouchers will also be declared.

All individual customers who complete any type of transaction are eligible to enter the fortnightly and mega draw. This applies to remittances, foreign currency exchange, credit card bill payments, Air Arabia ticket payment, Shaadi.com payments, subscription payments of Pehla (Arab Digital Distribution), purchase and sale of Travellers cheques and using other products like Xpress Money, Western Union among others.

After each transaction, the customer is required to SMS his unique reference on the receipt to 2181. He will then receive an acknowledgement by SMS, informing him that his number has gone into the draw.
