Chinese film festival for youngsters in Bengal


Kolkata, Dec 5 (IANS): As many as eleven Chinese films will be screened across different educational institutions in West Bengal as part of a film festival, an organiser said Friday.

Organised by The School of Chinese Language (TSCL) with the support of the Consulate General of China in Kolkata, the festival is targeted at youngsters for developing a deeper understanding of the culture.

"The films have themes that will interest the youth. It is meant for the students and will help develop better understanding of the culture and foster exchanges," Madan Saraff, principal, TSCL told IANS.

Running from Dec 4 to Dec 21, films like "Forever Enthralled", "Shaolin Soccer", "Journey to the West" will be screened for youngsters at the Calcutta University, Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan, an institute in Howrah, Indian Institute of Management, Joka and at various schools in the city.
