Mangalore, Nov 20: Sunday's are proving fatal to tourists at Panambur Beach.  This is not a myth but a fact.  In the last couple of months, a total of 6 persons have drowned at the beach, out of which 5 met watery grave on Sundays.

This was so evident on Sunday November 19 evening.  A newly-married young woman who had gone to the beach for an evening stroll with her husband was washed away by the turbulent sea.  Her body was found late on Sunday night.

Kavana (23), wife of Hanumanth Gowda of Rattahalli in Haveri district had come to the city on tour.  It was only 5 months ago that they had married each other.  On Sunday evening they went to Panambur beach and after a while ventured into the sea.   But within few minutes, a mighty wave engulfed Kavana and pulled her into the deep sea.

All this happened within a fraction of a second and just in front of Hanumanth Gowda.  Despite efforts by locals to rescue, Kavana was not found.  It was late in the night that her body was fished out at Tannirbavi beach by the police.

The Panambur police have registered a case in this regard.
