Japan to use SDF aircraft to fight against Ebola

Tokyo, Nov 28 (IANS): the Japan government is all set to fly an Air Self-Defence Force (SDF) transport aircraft to supply 20,000 sets of personal protective equipment to the Ebola-hit West African region, media reported.

It is the first time that SDF aircraft will go abroad as part of Japan's contribution to the international fight against the deadly Ebola virus, Kyodo news reported Friday.

"We will newly provide 700,000 sets of personal protective equipment, and the first 20,000 will be transported to the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response headquarters in Accra, Ghana," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said at a press conference Friday.
