Udupi, Nov 14: The 125-year anniversary celebrations of St Francis Xavier Primary School will be held on Thursday November 16, said Fr Richard Coelho, coordinator of St Francis Xavier educational institution at a press meet here on Monday November 13.

The programme will be presided over by Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore. Oscar Fernandes, Union minister, Manorama Madhwaraj, MP, Haji Abdul Jaleel Saheb, local leader and D Manjunathayya, BEO will be the chief guests.

The silver jubilee of St Francis Xavier High School will be celebrated on Friday November 17 at 5 pm, the release stated. Fr Wilson D'Souza, secretary, Catholic Education Board, will preside. District in-charge minister V S Acharya, MLA K Raghupati Bhat, and former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake are expected to be the chief guests.

St Xavier Francis Xavier Educational Institution was started way back in 1881 by Leo R Pereira. In 1982, the institution celebrated its centenary year. The high school was established in the same year to mark the anniversary, Fr Coelho said.

Vincent Anil Menezes, assistant parish priest, Godfrey D'Souza, president, parish council, Irene Tauro, J B D'Sa, Lawrence D'Sa and others were present.
