Mangalore, Nov 12: A huge trench dug over night and left open by the negligence of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) engineer was filled up by the people with co-operation from the police and the corporators.

Negligence by MCC left the trench open for days on the road between Jyothi and Bunts Hostel.

It is said that the MCC engineers had dug the trench to identify a manhole.

Deputy SP Harishchandra along with his personnel rushed to the spot and installed neon traffic conicles.

The trench had posed a great threat to commuters on the road which is one of the busiest roads of the city.
