Mangalore, Nov 9: Sparsha Youth Counselling Centre organized "Balu Belagisi", a programme on importance of education for the parents and students of Kasba Begre area on Sunday November 5.

The study by the centre and some MSW students had stated that awareness regarding the importance of education was at a very low-level in Kasba Bengre area.  This was the same with the students as well as their parents.  Therefore the schools usually record a very low attendance.

The programme was inaugurated by Susheel Noronha, president of St Christopher Association.  The programme was symbolically inaugurated by watering a plant.  Founder president of MIFT, renowned orator M G Hegde was the resource person.  He dwelt at length on importance of education and also the role played by education in one's life.

He also stressed that people should encourage students to go for higher education and not stop education either after SSLC or PUC.  "It is only with adequate education that one can dream about development of our families, society and country," he added.

Abdul Hakim, president of local Jumma Masjid presided over the function while Denis D'Silva, general secretary of Konkani Yuva Awaz and Ibrahim, animator of Alumni Association were the chief guests on the occasion.

Mohammad Shakir, MSW student of Karavali College welcomed the gathering while Sirajuddin from Sridevi College compered the programme.  Subha from Alva's College proposed the vote of thanks.
