New Delhi, Nov 3 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee Monday congratulated Indian medal winners at the Incheon Asian Para Games, saying the country is proud of their achievements.
"Your success is a matter of great pride for all Indians. It will serve as an inspiration to both sportspersons as well as differently abled people of our country. Your achievement is an example of what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication," Mukherjee said.
The medallists include Sharad Kumar (high jump gold), Amit Kumar (club throw gold, men’s discus throw silver), Parul Dalsukhbhai Parmar (women’s singles badminton gold, mixed doubles silver), Sandeep Singh Mann (men’s 200 metre silver, 400m silver in one hand disabled category) and Ankur Dhama (men’s 800m silver, 1,500m bronze, 5,000m bronze in blind category).
Others medallists were Ramkaran Singh (men’s 800m silver in partial blind category), Narender (men’s javelin throw silver), Devendra (javelin throw silver), Deepa Malik (women’s javelin throw silver), Santhamuthuvel Kesavan (men’s discus throw silver), Sarkar Manoj (men’s singles badminton silver), Tarun (men’s singles badminton silver), shuttler Raj Kumar (men’s and mixed doubles silvers), Rakesh Pandey (men’s doubles badminton silver).
The list also included swimmer Sharath Gayakwad (200m individual medley silver, five bronzes in 50m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 100m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and 4x100m relay medley), Shavaad Jedikere Mohammed Ali (men’s 800m bronze in blind category), H.N. Girisha (men’s high jump bronze), Karamjyoti (women’s discus throw bronze, shot put bronze) and Pramod Bhagat (men’s singles badminton bronze).
The men's judo team members - Karmpal, Jaydeepkumar Hridaya Singh, Manoharan Janakiraman and Ramesh Kumar - and women's judo team members - Ravi Vijayashanthi, Priyanka Annasaheb Ghumre, Pappathi Chinnaswamy and Monisha Sundaramoorthy - also received congratulatory messages.
Among others, Farman Basha, who won bronze in men’s 49 kg powerlifting, swimmer Prasanta Karmakar, who clinched two bronzes in men’s 100m breaststroke and 4x100m relay medley, Niranjan Mukundan for winning bronze in men’s 4x100m relay medley in swimming and Swapnil Sanjay Patil for winning bronze in men’s 4x100m relay medley were also congratulated.
