Oct 29: Though Mandira Bedi continues to bowl audiences over as the glam host of the cricket-based show ‘Extraa Innings’, she has invited flak for her ‘behenji’ dressing and bling accessories yet again. But the Bedi babe is impervious.
“It’s a no-win situation. If I wear a low neckline, I’m criticised for exposing. When I am covered up, they don’t like that either. I just enjoy reading what is written rather than take the criticism personally.” She elaborates, “I’m not going to stop wearing what I want to. The producers have a certain idea and if they are fine with it, it doesn’t bother me.”
Style file: Mandira, who has mixed and matched her wardrobe with designers Manish Malhotra and Satya Paul’s collections, says, “I have worn both saris and western clothes. I have brought in tunics, pants and skirts.
Though I love experimenting, I look best in a sari.” Mandira is particular about not repeating a sari on two consecutive days or duplicating colours.
Host on a high: She continues, “I am having a blast because the show is irreverent this time. Earlier I used to feel conscious about saying anything out of line.” Mandira is also celebrating a newfound equation with co-host Charu Sharma.
“We have reached a comfort level. If there’s no excess baggage in the head, the show goes well,” she explains, adding, “Live programming makes you think on your feet. To make people laugh is the ultimate test of spontaneity.”
