Ebola virus: India tracking over 1,000 passengers


New Delhi, Sep 10 (IANS): A total of 1,019 passengers are being tracked for Ebola virus under the integrated disease surveillance project, union health ministry said here Wednesday.

Most of them are in Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal and Delhi. A total of 82 passengers have exited the surveillance after follow-up for a month, it said in a statement.

Since Tuesday, 111 passengers from the affected countries have arrived at the airports in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi, Trivandrum and Hyderabad.

As on Wednesday, a total of 16,923 passengers were screened.
