Dubai, Sep 16: Members of ‘Famad Pernal’ gathered at Richmand Hotel Apartments, to celebrate Monti Fest 2006. The entire program was carried out in a very traditional manner, and was witnessed by 140 Pernalites.

The event began with a prayer dance by Jessy Mathias along with a live hymn composed by Famad Member Charles Mathias sung by Asha Correa.

Vincent D’Souza(VT Travels), Joseph Mathias(Merit Freight Systems), Walter D’Souza (Daijiworld.com) & Lawrence Mendonca were the Guests of Honor.

To mark the customary occasion children offered flowers to Monti Mai, followed by distribution of sweets. It was then time for yet another long established culture of offering the new harvest (Kanshi) by the newly wedded brides to a senior Famad Member who then gifted them with sari’s.  The blessed harvest (Novem) was then consumed by the Pernalites with the spirit of oneness & unity.

The main attraction of the event was honoring the ‘Vinsnar Pernalgar’, which is a dignified tribute awarded for the extra-ordinary services rendered towards the association. Anita Mathias was honored as Vinsnar Pernalgar ’06 for her exceptional service towards the association in the past.

The traditional vegetarian lunch was prepared by none other than, Famad members themselves, which was served on banana leaves to keep up our vibrant tradition.

The whole day’s event was loaded with lots of fun and entertainment which comprised of hilarious skits, witty games, melodious songs, & energetic dances. Music was provided by Ketan D’souza.  The entire program was meticulously compered by Robert Mendonca.
