Mangalore, Sep 15: The 37th annual Krishna Janmashthami celebrations of Kadri Sri Manjunatha Temple were held on Friday September 15 night.  The celebrations were coupled with the traditional mosarukudike (pot-breaking) celebrations too were held.


As usual Sri Krishna Janma Mahotsav Samiti organized the celebrations. Despite heavy rains the area was abuzz with colourful celebrations and festivities. In spite of the celebrations continuing up to midnight, people stayed back and enjoyed each moment of the celebration.

The young men of the area added extra charm and spice to the celebrations with pot-breaking celebrations.  The pots with curds, milk and even water were broken to the rhythmic sound of music and applauding palms of the devotees.



State Apex bank president M N Rajendra Kumar, Elias Sactis, former president of Tulukoota Kuwait, Suresh Ballal, president of North Block Congress, Dinesh Devadiga, president, Sri Krishna Janmotsava Samiti, Kadri, Shashiraj Ambat, general secretary, DCC and Ganesh Rao, corporator were present on the occasion.





Noted Sandalwood musician and composer Guru Kiran, who hails from the district was honoured on the occasion for his achievements.  Elias Sanctis too was honoured on the occasion by Guru Kiran. Later Guru Kiran and his troupe presented a musical evening.

Lord Krishna's statue was carried from Sri Gopalakrishna Math near Kadri Kambala to Manjunatha Temple in a colourful procession in the evening hours. The procession passed through Kadri Kambala road and City Hospital road and entered Sri Manjunatheshawara Mahadwara at Mallikatta to reach the Rajangana of Kadri Temple.
