Udupi, Sep 11: The Human Resource secretariat of the union government has asked the private sector not to use terms such as "National", "Indian", "National Institute" and "Indian Institute" while naming their firms, institutes etc.

The secretariat has said that, firms or institutes with these sub-names mean that, they are being either promoted by the government or that they have a government share in their establishment.  "Hence, all these private firms, institutes or companies should change their names and remove above mentioned sub-names from their name boards.  Even if their registered, their registration should be cancelled," a press release said.

Accordingly the secretariat has asked department of public instructions to take action in this regard.

But one has to wait and see as what solution would be sought in case of well-known institutes such as IIMs, IITs, or even Little Rock Indian School of Brahmavar and National College of Bangalore etc. It is quite evident that HR secretariat has stirred a hornet's nest in this regard.
