Mangalore, Sep 10: The city is considered to be one of the fastest-growing cities in Karnataka, and to some extent in south India.

The rising number of high-rises, business malls, apartment condominiums, not to mention hospitals and educational institutions is a clear indication of the tempo of its progress and development. The old skyline of the city is making way for a totally metro-like picture.

The Mahatma Gandhi Road from the PVS building in Kodialbail leading to Lal Bagh and onward to Lady Hill and Kottara gives the look of a metropolitan high street.

The arrival of Big Bazar, Food Bazar, Multiplexes, Nilgiri's superstore and other business enterprises is a clear sign of its growth potential. Giant hoardings are a common feature found on every street now. Crowded shopping malls is index to a rise in people's purchsing power. The tourist spots around the city have made it possible to attract regular foreign tourists.
