Abu Dhabi. Sept 9: Kannadigas of Abu Dhabi felicitated Ambassador of India in Bahrain, Balakrishna Shetty on Friday 8th September at nmc Guest House Auditorium.

The Ambassador Shetty was in town to attend social events on his first visit to Emirates. Accompanied by C.M.Bhandary Ambassaor of India in UAE, he attended Onam festivities hosted by Abu Dhbai Malayalee Association and Indian Social center.

In a very unique and graceful function attended by the leaders of Karnataka community the Ambassador was facilitated in a very distinctive traditional way by the Grand Patrons Dr.B R Shetty and Chandra Kumari Shetty. It was a very memorable and hearty occasion where one distinguished public servant was honoured by another distinguished ‘public servant’ who is a popular cultural ambassador Karnataka in the Gulf.


 
Answering the felicitations the Chief Guest called upon the members to promote India to the world. Audience was impressed with his talk about India which covered the historical, economical, social & cultural aspects of our country.

Earlier, coordinator Sarvotham Shetty welcomed and introduced the Chief Guests in a very witty humorous way which gave a relaxed ambience to the proceedings.

Dr.Shetty in his presidential address lauded the humanitarian efforts of esteemed Ambassador in the recent tragic fire devastation which resulted in the deaths of Indian laborers and declared that he stands out as an inspiration.
 
The function concluded with an interactive session with the Honorable Ambassador Sri.Shetty who was accompanied by wife Vasundara, children Vikram & Gayathri.



Ambassador Balakrishna Shetty hails from Kundapura and belongs to well-known Kandavara family. Vasundara Shetty is the daughter of Kittanna Rai of Belliapdy house, Mangalore
