New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS): Delhi Police Thursday told a court here that two youths accused in a sensational and grisly murder in a narrow and crowded lane in the capital were adults and not juvenile.

The murder occurred Aug 5 in the crowded Madangir area of south Delhi.

Police Thursday told Metropolitan Magistrate Navjeet Budhiraja that the two accused - Shahrukh and Kartik - were both aged over 19 years.

The court Aug 8 had directed police to conduct an inquiry for determining their ages and collect all the relevant documents.

Both were produced before the court Thursday and sent to 14 days' judicial custody till Sep 4.

Three minors were also apprehended in the case.

The Aug 5 attack was caught on a CCTV camera installed outside a shop.

The footage showed Sachin, the 19-year-old victim, driving a bike with a pillion rider and running into the killer squad coming from the opposite direction.

As Sachin and his friend fell from the motorcycle, the accused pounced on them. The pillion rider managed to flee.

Sachin tried to escape but was chased and pinned to the ground. While beating him, the killers took Sachin to a corner and stabbed him repeatedly on his back, chest and abdomen.

None of the scores of people in the lane came to the victim's rescue. The killers then escaped, not realising that the crime was caught on camera.

Many passers-by walked through the lane, not paying heed to the bleeding Sachin. By the time police came, Sachin had bled to death.

The three juveniles were apprehended and later sent to a juvenile reformation home.

According to police sources, Sachin allegedly extorted money from the accused and beat them up over petty issues. The five accused told police they were fed up with his extortion and wanted to teach him a lesson.
