Mangalore, Sep 4: After the fake lokayukta officers were brought to book, an ‘IAS Officer’ has followed suit.

An individual, who impersonated himself as a senior IAS officer, enjoyed the best of government hospitality for one a-half-day in the undivided Udupi and DK districts.

An episode, which is equally amusing also has vital lessons to teach is this case. Subramanya Sharma who visited Udupi on Sep 2 impersonating as a senior IAS is not in police net.

With high skills of stagecraft, Subrmanya of Andra Pradesh toured throughout the district on government

A ‘dignified’ thief, Subramanya had intimidated the Udupi SP of his visit as a senior IAS officer along with his personal assistant. Udupi SP even had his Tata Qualis vehicle sent for him. After being put up in Hotel Kedur, he even met the DC and joined him for lunch.

Subramanya is now in the police net. The DCIB caught him in Mangalore on Saturday, Sep 3.

After enjoying all government comforts and also being given a security guard during his stay, the ‘IAS officer' stepped into DK district and took a room in the Circuit house.

The fake IAS officer with his PA Nagaraj while in Udupi had toured all holy places and also visited several temples.

On Sunday, he entered Mangalore and informed about his visit to the DC’s office.

None could have suspected this duo as they moved around with lots of assertiveness in speech and action.

However, a worm of doubt wriggled in mind of A G Bhat, HQ assistant, DC’s office here, who alerted the DK SP B Dayananda on it. IT-savvy SP soon got to work and found out that Subrmanya’s name was not to be found in the list of IAS officers.

What followed this was quick communication with higher officers, who confirmed that Subramanya was a fake IAS officer.
