Kolkata, Aug 15 (IANS): An exhibition has been installed here which will allow people to listen to digitised recordings of speeches by India's great leaders, freedom fighters and famous personalities to enable them soak in the patriotic spirit.
An initiative by the Weavers Studio Centre for the Arts (WSCA) to benefit youngsters, the 'Saare Jahan Se Accha' audio-visual programme running in south Kolkata's Ballygunje has nearly 100 such rare speeches from 1900-1950s.
For example, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's moving broadcast from Tokyo to India, original version of national anthem sung by Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, invigorating speeches made by Swami Vivekananda and the different versions of Indian national song "Vande Mataram" can be heard at kiosks in the exhibit.
"The activity is focused on preserving our history and culture for the younger generation, and disseminating our rich heritage. The current school children will benefit greatly from this initiative," Darshan Shah of WSCA said.
Shah said that though digitised, the original audio quality of the recordings has been retained.
The exhibition is on till Aug 19.
