Udupi, Aug 23: "Akku", a Kannada telemovie produced by Francis D'Sa of Disha Communications of Udupi, is all set to be released soon with the completion of shooting schedules in the district. .

The movie, directed by Prakash Suvarna Katapady, is aimed at creating awareness about social evils like caste discrimination, child marriage, child labour and  others.

Prakash Suvarna says that with the middle class employing the low-class children as labourers, the latter are being exploited and forced into child marriages. This also leads to exploitation of women. To take this message to viewers' minds, an attempt to highlight these evils has been made.

Jayalakshmi Atrady, a school girl, has played the title role of 'Akku'. Others in the cast are Sudesh Bangera, Jagadish Bolje, Master Prajwal, Shivani Shetty, Udayakumar Shetty, Satish Amink, Sushilendra, Shankar Sherigar, Harish Poojary, Harish Rao and many other Tulu theatre artistes.

As mentioned already, Francis D'Sa has produced the telemovie and camera work is by Jagadish Katapay. While Rohit Malpe has provided the music, Prakash Suvarna Katapady has looked after story, screenplay, dialogues and dirction as well.

Extensive location shooting has been completed in Katapary, Ambady and around. As soon as the post-production technical aspects are completed, the film will be ready for release, in all likelihood, in September.
