SC allows Sahara chief to be moved to make-shift jail

New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS): The Supreme Court Friday cleared the deck for shifting Sahara chief Subrata Roy to a make-shift jail in conference hall at the Tihar Jail complex to facilitate him to negotiate the sale of his properties, in India and abroad.

An apex court bench allowed the Delhi government to issue notification designating the conference hall as a jail by Aug 4 where Roy along with two other directors will be shifted Aug 5.

This is being done to enable him to raise Rs.10,000 crore to make part payment of the investors money raised through OFCDs in 2008-09.
