Mangalore, Aug 20: Amidst nail biting excitement and intense competition, the 20th inter-parish fancy dress competition took place under the aegis of Konkani Natak Sabha in Don Bosco Hall on Sunday Aug 20.
In the above 15 years category (adults) Bajal parish lifted the overall shield with 18 points leaving Derebail to the second place with 11 points and Bejai to the third place with 7 points.
The excitement reached its peak when Bajal parish scored a decisive 18 point victory even in the below 15 years category (children’s) making them the winners of the competition.
Bendore, with 12 points, had to be satisfied with the second place and Derebail with 8 points, the third place.
Creativity was overflowing with newer concepts of fancy dress were devised at the competition. While the usual fancy dress ideas like dancing doll, robot etc were a part of the event, novel ideas like royal kingdom, flesh eating ghosts etc made the event entertaining.
The back stage was bubbling with activity as participants prepared for their best performance on stage. Boats, bicycles, houses, mountains, rivers etc etc entered the stage on various occasions. Even an episode from the English movie Baby’s Day Out was enacted.
In the under 15 years mixed category (boys and girls) the first place was won by Derebail Parish. Bejai won the second while Bendore won the third place.
In the above 15 years mixed category (boys and girls) the first place was won by Urwa Parish. Bendore parish and Derebail won the second and third places respectively.
The judges of the event were Daya Victor Lobo, Maizy D’Souza and K Sudhakar.
