Works by Indian artists, world masks on display in Kolkata


Kolkata, July 31 (IANS): From abstracts to contemporary, paintings by renowned Indian artists showcasing graphic quality as well as human touch are on display here till Aug 15.

Christened "Paintings and Wooden Masks", the exhibition at the Palladian Lounge (Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry), inaugurated Thursday, brings for art enthusiasts some selected works by Laxma Goud, Ram Kumar, Dharmendra Rathore, Suhas Roy and many others. 

"There are 18 paintings and three sculptures. We have showcased artists from across India," Jhuma Chatterjee, curator of the painting exhibit, told IANS.

In addition, as many as 24 masks collected from various parts of the world are part of the exposition.

Twenty percent of sale proceeds will go to the Oral School of Deaf Children.
