Karkala, Aug 14: Indeed the spirit of being Indian is flying high.

Two creative youth from here have constructed a helicopter model of their own and have offered to fly it from the Gandhi Maidan here on the occasion of Independence Day on Tuesday, August 15.

Karkala tahsildar and chairman of the Karkala taluk Independence Day celebrations committee Vasudhesh Tannirbhavi has granted permission to fly their locally-made helicopter at 10-00 am on Tuesday.

The two PUC-educated youngsters, Ratnakar Naik and Vikram, have keen interest in flying. Responding to the queries from mediapersons they said that they had spent about Rs 1.25 lac on the project and they felt honoured to fly on the occasion of the Independence Day.

They run an agency of Sharp Eco Motors in Karkala.
