Panaji, Jul 21: Goa will ask the union government to restore its wheat quota as originally sanctioned, which has been dwindling for last couple of years.

"Attempts are being made on the part of the state government to restore the stock allocation.. we will ask the central government to restore the quota," civil supplies minister, Atanasio Monserratte, told the state legislative assembly on Friday.

Replying during the question hour, Monserratte, informed that 40,320 metric tones wheat quota was received during April 2004 to March 2005, which was recied to 23,656 MTs during April 2005 to March 2006 and further dwindled to 5,913 between April 2006 to June 2006.

The minister said that the food corporation of india's vigilance committee was informed by the state civil supplies department about the reduction, which has been requested to take up the issue with the centre.

"The state government will also write to the center asking to restore the wheat quota," Monserratte said.
