Mumbai, Jul 9: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh convened an emergency meeting of top officials on Sunday, to discuss the situation in the wake of desecration of the bust of Meenatai, the late wife of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray.
The incident has sparked off violent protests by Shiv Sainiks across the state.
"The chief minister is currently in meeting with top state-level officials who are briefing him on the situation in the state, especially in Mumbai," sources said.
