Students offered free entry at Thomas, Uber Cup ties

New Delhi, May 21 (IANS): Students will now be able to watch their favourite badminton stars - Saina Nehwal, Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan - for free at the ongoing Thomas and Uber Cups at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here.

Crowd turnout has been dismally low for two of the sports' most prestigious events and to augment the turnout, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) has offered students free entry till the final slated for May 25.

"We have decided to make the entry for students free. They need to produce their school or college identity cards at the gate to enter the venue," BAI president Akhilesh Das Gupta told IANS.

"Approximately 700 seats have been kept for the students. This is a great opportunity to see the best badminton players in action."

India is hosting the biennial event for the first time.
