Blast kills one in Afghanistan


Kabul, May 21 (IANS): One person was killed and 10 others were injured in a bomb blast in the northwestern Afghanistan province of Faryab Wednesday, a police spokesman said.

"A bomb planted by militants next to a shop in Takhta bazaar of Pashtunkot district went off at around 10 a.m. local time today, killing one civilian on the spot and wounding 10 others," Sayed Mahmoud Yaqubi, the spokesman, told Xinhua.

Pashtunkot is 425 km northwest of Kabul.

Yaqubi blamed Taliban militants for the attack.
