Gujarat assembly bids farewell to Narendra Modi


Gandhinagar, May 21 (IANS): The Gujarat assembly Wednesday held a special session to bid farewell to outgoing Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is set to be sworn in as India's next prime minister.

State legislators, including Modi's close aide Amit Shah and Revenue Minister Anandiben Patel, addressed the session. Patel is tipped to be the next Gujarat chief minister.

Modi is expected to submit his resignation to the governor following which the Bharatiya Janata Party legislators are likely to hold a meeting to elect their leader in the assembly.

Modi led his party to a historic victory in the general election.
