Bolivia's Bolivar deny interest in Beckham

La Paz (Bolivia), May 20 (IANS): Bolivian football club Bolivar denied any interest in signing former England captain David Beckham, who has played for top clubs like Manchester United and Spain's Real Madrid.

"Currently, the signing of English player David Beckham to be part of the team during the semi-final of Copa Libertadores, is just an illusion, we have not considered it," said Marcelo Claure, president of Baisa, manager of Bolivar, during a press conference here Monday, reports Xinhua.

Claure said that although Beckham is his friend, it will be difficult for the English player to return after he retired in 2013 from France's Paris Saint Germain.

"About the Beckham issue there is nothing, as I said the last time. At this moment, it is only an illusion and therefore we cannot give false hope to the Bolivian fans," said Claure.

Bolivar and San Lorenzo play Copa Libertadores' semi-final first leg July 23 in Argentina and the second one July 30 here.
