Albertini to resign from Italian Football Federation

Rome, May 16 (IANS): FIGC vice president Demetrio Albertini has announced he will resign from the Italian football governing body after the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The former Rossoneri midfielder, who has worked at the federation for seven years, reportedly will join AC Milan, reports Xinhua.

"I have informed president Giancarlo Abete some time ago," Albertini was quoted as saying Thursday.

"I will be in Brazil as head of the Italy delegation, then I'll leave every post within the FIGC," he said.

"These were rich and intense years of growth by Abete's side and I have great respect for him, but it's time for me to turn over a new leaf," he said.

It has already been reported Albertini has been offered a job at his old club Milan.
