Mid-Day

Mumbai, Jul 1: A day after Mid Day reported that passengers going to the domestic airport in taxis had to leave their luggage and walk 150 metres to terminal 1B for a trolley, GVK-led Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (MIAL) decided to lift the curbs and revert to the old system.

While confirming the rollback, airport director R J Treasurywala said, "Efforts are being made to improve traffic movement and we are trying out various permutations and combinations to ascertain what suits passengers."

Wednesday's move had enraged passengers who came on taxis and after nearly 25 complaints of inconvenience were registered, MIAL decided to lift the curbs, which they said was to decongest traffic flow.

While stopping taxis on Wednesday, MIAL had not imposed any restriction on private cars.
