The Hague, May 12 (IANS): NEC Nijmegen were relegated from the Eredivisie after 20 years at the highest level in the Dutch football league.
In the second round of the promotion/relegation play-offs, NEC were beaten 1-3 at home Sunday by second division club Sparta Rotterdam, reports Xinhua.
In the final matches May 15, 18 Sparta will face FC Dordrecht, who defeated VVV-Venlo 2-1 Sunday, after a 3-1 win in the first encounter.
The other play-off final will be played between Excelsior and RKC Waalwijk, who finished 16th in the Eredivisie last season.
