Stuttgart parts company with coach Stevens

Stuttgart, May 11 (IANS): German football club Stuttgart and its coach Huub Stevens have parted ways.

After fulfilling his "most difficult task", the Dutch coach and Stuttgart parted company Saturday. Stevens took the helm in March and helped the club in staying up as the 'VfB' completed the season in 15th position with 32 points, reports Xinhua.

"I came here with a clear goal and that was to reach safety. It was an intense time and was one of my most difficult tasks as a coach. I decided, together with my family, that it was time to take a break. Stuttgart is a great club that will play in other areas of the table next season," Stevens said.

Stuttgart president Bernd Wahler said: "We understand the decision of Huub Stevens and we are very grateful for what he has done for the VfB. He was willing to help us in this difficult situation without much consideration."
