Modi desperate, distorted Priyanka's remarks: Congress

New Delhi, May 9 (IANS): The Congress Friday accused BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi of distorting Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's "low-level politics" remark, calling him "desperate" for power.

"BJP's prime ministerial candidate is desperate because he has understood that the election results will not be according to his expectations, which is why he has distorted Priyanka's remark for electoral benefits," Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken said in a press conference here.

"When Modi was asked in a TV interview about why he has given a caste spin to Priyanka's remark, he explained that her remarks would mean the same if spoken in Gujarati language," Maken told reporters.

"What is most surprising here is that Priyanka made a statement in Hindi and Modi made a counter-statement in Hindi. So where does the Gujarati language spring in here?" he said.
