Cloudy Tuesday in Delhi, rain expected

New Delhi, May 6 (IANS): It was a cloudy, pleasant morning in the national capital Tuesday, a day after rain drenched the city. Light rain is expected in some areas, said the Met Office.

"The sky will remain cloudy throughout the day and light rain is expected in some parts of the city," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

Maximum temperature is expected to hover around 38 degrees Celsius.

Cool winds and showers Monday brought respite to Delhiites reeling under intense heat. The capital received 15.3 mm rain from 8.30 a.m. Monday to 8.30 a.m. Tuesday.

As a result, Tuesday's minimum temperature settled two notches below the season's average at 23.1 degrees Celsius.

Monday's maximum temperature was recorded one notch below the season's average at 38.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum settled at 26 degrees Celsius, one notch above the normal.

The mercury crossed the 40-degree mark last week.
