Ghaziabad courts closed following lawyer's murder


Ghaziabad, April 30 (IANS): Courts in Ghaziabad remained closed Wednesday after a lawyer was found murdered in Bhoorgarhi locality.

Ghaziabad Bar Association president Anil Pandit said senior lawyer Jaivir Sharma was found murdered Wednesday morning.

After coming to know of the murder, association members held a condolence meeting and passed a resolution to suspend court work for a day (Wednesday). They sent a copy of the resolution to the bench head, district judge Anil Shrivastava who accepted it.

"The lawyer was strangulated to death while he was on his way to his home in Duhai Tuesday evening. During interrogation, Sharma's driver confessed to committing the crime. Police recovered the body after the car was found abandoned in the Bhoorgarhi locality Wednesday morning," said SP Rural Jagdish Sharma.

The police said the reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
