Hoffenheim's Andreas Beck extends contract till 2017

Berlin, April 25 (IANS): German international defender Andreas Beck has put pen to paper on a contract extension until June 2017, Bundesliga club Hoffenheim said.

After a long back-and-forth Hoffenheim and team captain Andreas Beck have agreed on a new three-year deal, the club announced Thursday, reports Xinhua.

"We are delighted that Andy decided to continue at Hoffenheim. Andy is not only sporty valuable for us but he takes a leading role in our club as a captain," Hoffenheim's director of professional football Alexander Rosen said in an official statement.

Beck joined the "TSG 1899" in 2008 after two years at Stuttgart. Since his arrival he has made 180 appearances and scored three goals. In addition he was included in the German national squad in 2009 and has nine caps.

"Hoffenheim was at all times my first option. Now I'm glad that the issue is settled and we take the next steps together," the 27-year-old told the club's official homepage.

Hoffenheim are in ninth place in the standings with 40 points.
