15-member Indian team named for South Asian Judo


New Delhi, April 9 (IANS): The Judo Federation of India (JFI) is sending a 15-member squad to Kathmandu to participate in the South Asia Judo Championships April 10-14.

Six men and women each will be accompanied by coaches Jai Gopal Sharma and Surinder Singh while N.S. Thakur will be the team leader. The team will leave from here Thursday.

In the last Championships held in Pakistan in May 2011, India won 10 golds and one silver.

The following is the squad:

Men's: Navjot Chana (60 kg), Irom Sanju Singh (66), Navdeep Chana (73), Vikender Singh (81), Avtar Singh (90), Khaidem Yaima Singh (100).

Women's: Rajni Bala (48 kg), Angom Anita Chanu (52), Suchika Tariyal (57), Garima Chaudhary (63), Huidrom Sunibala Devi (70), Chongtham Jina Devi (78).
