Leicester clinch Premier League promotion

London, April 6 (IANS): Leicester City ended a 10-year absence from the Premier League and clinched their promotion after their two main rivals lost their respective matches.

Leicester are currently sitting top of the championship league table, nine points clear of second-placed Burnley, reports Xinhua.

With third-placed Queens Park Rangers and fourth-ranked Derby both suffering defeat, Leicester, who beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1, secured a top-two finish for direct promotion with still six matches left.

The last time Leicester played in Premier League was in the 2003-2004 season. After one unsuccessful season, the team was relegated in 2004.
