Mumbai, Jun 12: The educational and social welfare committees of the Bunts Association conducted the annual educational and social welfare programmes here on Saturday June 10 at the Radhabai Bhandary Hall of the Bunts Bhavan in the Bhandary Estate at Kurla East here.

The programme was presided over by association president Sudhakar S Hegde. Chief guest Nagraj Shetty, minister for fisheries and endowment, inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Later, economically backward students were given financial assistance and pensions were provided to widows.

Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said that the Bunts community is known all over the world for its achievements. A Bunt shouldbe proud of belonging to this community. The Bunts are foremost in charity and donating generously for a cause, he said.

The presence of film actor Aditya Pancholi added glitter to the programme. He handed over financial assistance to the handicapped.

The guest of honour Sudhakar M Shetty of Sahana Builders and Developers Private Limited, Prabhakar J Shetty of Eastwell Asbestos Industries Private Limited were present and adopted children on the occasion.

Nagraj Shetty was felicitated by association president Sudhakar S Hegde. All the donors were felicitated by Shetty. Social welfare department working president Karnire Vishwanath Shetty welcomed the gathering. Kalajagattu Vijay Kumar compered. The vote of thanks was delivered by Association honourary working president V K Shetty.

The audience was entertained with Hindi, Tulu, Kannada music by Ketan Kumar. Nagesh Kumar whose name is in Limca Book of Records filled the crowd with laughter with mimicry of famous celebrities.

Among those present were MLA Lalchand Rathod, association trustees, members of the administrative committee, executive committee members and working presidents of various subcommittees.
