Cruzeiro slip up as Defensor secure draw

Belo Horizonte, March 21 (IANS): Emilio Zeballos struck a stoppage time equaliser to earn Defensor Sporting a 2-2 draw against Brazilian champions Cruzeiro in their Copa Libertadores match.

Former Real Madrid forward Julio Baptista and midfielder Everton Ribeiro appeared to ensure victory for the hosts, netting in the space of 10 minutes early in the second half to give Cruzeiro a 2-0 lead Thursday, reports Xinhua.

But Felipe Gedoz reduced the margin in the 66th minute for the Uruguayan side before Zeballos' cool finish with only seconds remaining tied the match.

The result at the Mineiro stadium leaves Cruzeiro third in Group 6 with four points while Defensor Sporting are second on seven points.
