Former Hannover 96 captain Cherundolo retires


Washington, March 20 (IANS): Former German Bundesliga Hannover 96 captain Steve Cherundolo has announced his retirement from professional football.

Cherundolo, who played for the US national team in three FIFA World Cups, Wednesday announced he was hanging up his boots. He helped the team to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup title in 2005.

Cherundolo, who was considered as the best ever American right back, had 82 caps for the national team.
