President's rule to be imposed in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 15 (IANS): Delhi will be brought under President's rule and the Assembly will be kept under suspended animation with the Union Cabinet today accepting the recommendation of Lt Governor Najeeb Jung in this regard.

Jung had rejected the recommendation of the outgoing AAP government that the Assembly be dissolved.

The Cabinet decision will come into effect after promuglation of a notification by the President.

It has to be then got endorsed by Parliament through a resolution under Article 356 of the Constitution.

In a report to the Centre, Jung did not favour dissolution of the 70-member Delhi Assembly as recommended by the council of ministers headed by Arvind Kejriwal when it met last night and decided to quit.

The LG's move keeps the option open for any political party or a combination of parties to try and form a government in future.

Sources said Jung has conveyed to the Centre that the national capital be brought under a spell of President's rule as no party is now in a position to form an alternative government.

The final call on the LG's recommendation will be taken by the Centre, the sources said.Home Ministry officials said they would take the opinion of the Law Ministry and place all the facts before the Union Cabinet for the final decision.

The Assembly elections late last year had given a split verdict with no political party getting absolute majority. The Aam Aadmi Party led by Kejriwal formed the government in December with Congress support.

The AAP government resigned yesterday after it suffered a defeat on the Janlokpal Bill in the Delhi Assembly and recommended for fresh election by dissolving the House.

The LG has also sent, along with his report, the resignation letter of Arvind Kejriwal. The letter would be forwarded to the President for its acceptance.

Congress backed the decision of the Union Cabinet. Party General Secretary Shakeel Ahmed said "we have already said whatever decision the Lt Governor will take, we will abide by that".

"The ball was in Lt Governor's court. He has information from different quarters. He is the best judge of the situation".

Congress, which has 8 MLAs, was supporting the Arvind Kejriwal government from outside.

Going by the trends, Kejriwal will not get a majority in
the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, so as it has happened in Delhi:
    1. When we will ask for solutions, he will blame
Ambanis, Media, Bill Clinton, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve
Jobs, Parveen Babi, Mithun Chakraborty or the
    President.
    2. When we will ask him to resolve our problems, he will
condemn others and run away from responsibilities.
    3. When other political rivals will challenge him, he will
choose to resign and wait till he gets a full majority
rather than finding a feasible resolution.
    4. When we will look to get out of a crisis, he will say
"What have others done. At least I am doing something"
    5. When there will be threats from Pakistan or China,
he will start a drama on Telangana or Khalistan and
    divert the media attention.
It doesn't really make any sense to vote for AAP

In present scenario, it is very difficult one party getting a majority..Do AAP will get a majority in MP election..if suppose there is hung parliament, if UPA/NDA/3rd front need AAP support, what AAP will do? do they say let us face a new election? it is foolishness say that even after getting unconditional support we have no majority so we are quits..they had a golden chance to serve people, people expected a difference..Do you think people only voted for Lokpal?..It may be important for AAP, not general public i am sure..Lokpal can be passed after one month, but there was other basic issues..why so hurry only on Lokpal?..everyone knows we have problem with the present system, but we want solutions, not a press release of list of corrupt, who gets what..Looser in a state, can he become the savior of the nation!!

Mr. Shiva, differing your opinion, but not to offend:
    1. AAP was not able to rule or take a decision as per its election manifesto for lack of enough numbers.
    2. Contrary to the general precedence, AAP set terms to accept support and to shoulder the responsibility of Govt formation, but they anticipated problems.
However, they were firm on their election manifesto, than to stay on by compromising principles, which we hardly find in any parties.
If you feel, shying away from responsibility, then, what you have to say for BJP who had maximum numbers?

Shiva..it is so pathetic of you asking government to perform within 49 days and you were not bothered about performance of governments for the last 60 years. At least Kejriwal tried his best to rule Delhi for the common man. He is honest in all his dealings. Kejriwal's fall is due to joint operation of Congress/BJP. Congress and BJP act like enemies, but their ideologies are the same...that is corruption and communal.

Now, the Govt officials of Delhi can freely continue their Corruption. Ugandan women can continue prostitution and drug peddling. Delhi Police will fully cooperate with all criminals now. Jai Ho Corruption.
