Stybar grabs third World cyclocross title


The Hague, Feb 3 (IANS): Czech rider Zdenek Stybar has claimed captured his third World cyclocross title in Hoogerheide, the Netherlands, beating off Sven Nys.

Stybar and Nys, both two-time World champions before the race Sunday, were the strongest of the pack and the race developed into a battle in the mud between the Belgian and the Czech, reports Xinhua.

Both riders crashed, but managed to hold on to their lead in front. In the final round Stybar took the lead from Nys and kept it until the finish. Reigning champion Nys finished 0.12 seconds behind Stybar.

Belgian Kevin Pauwels ( 0.40) took the bronze medal.
