Jones' debut goal gives Cardiff vital points

Cardiff (Wales), Feb 2 (IANS/CMC): A debut goal for Trinidad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones gave Cardiff City a 2-1 victory over Norwich City in the English Premier League.

The win Saturday lifts Cardiff off the bottom of the league table, reports CMC.

Two quick-fire goals at the start of the second half saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side overturn Norwich’s first-half advantage, claimed by a sixth minute strike from winger Robert Snodgrass.

It also ensured Solskjaer secured a first Premier League win since taking charge of the Welsh club which, while not moving them out of the drop zone, got them off the bottom of the table at Fulham's expense.

Jones, who joined Cardiff City from Stoke City where he scored 13 goals from 88 appearances, was one of two new signings used by Solskjaer for Saturday’s match.

Cardiff remains in the relegation zone with 21 points, three more than Fulham at the bottom. Norwich is on 24 points and Manchester City lead the table with 53 points.
