Kenya's Kiplagat to launch World Indoor campaign in Dusseldorf

Nairobi, Jan 30 (IANS): Commonwealth Games 1,500m champion Silas Kiplagat will launch his indoor campaign Thursday in Dusseldorf during the PSD Bank European Area Indoor Permit meet.

Kiplagat, who was sixth at the last World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, will be keen to improve his performance ahead of this year's championships, which will be held in March in Sopot, Poland, reports Xinhua.

His credential will be put to test Thursday as he starts his campaign to test his endurance and fitness levels, after months of training in Eldoret.

"I want to do well in 2014. The World Indoor Championships are a good ground to start off and it will be important start off with a win," said Kiplagat in Eldoret Wednesday.

"But this is my first race after a long period. I have been training with Ezekiel Kemboi, he has won so much in track and field and I want to emulate him because despite all the challenges, he has always found the right answer to silence his critics at major championships," said Kiplagat in Eldoret.
