Figure skater to be Spain's flag bearer in Sochi

Madrid, Jan 22 (IANS): European figure skating champion Javier Fernandez has been picked to carry the Spanish flag at next month's Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

Fernandez, currently training in Canada, retained his European title in Budapest Saturday. He also won bronze at last year's world championships, reports Xinhua.

The 22-year-old is one of the 21 Spanish athletes attending the Games that open Feb 7 in the Russian resort city.
