Roma wanted to beat Juventus at all costs, says Totti

Rome, Jan 22 (IANS): Veteran Roma striker Francesco Totti revealed that AS Roma wanted to beat Juventus at all costs in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals at home.

The capital side beat the Serie A leaders Tuesday night 1-0 thanks to a goal from Gervinho in the 79th minute to reach the semi-finals and the Roma skipper suggested that they were more determined, reports Xinhua.

"This was a one-off match to reach the semi-final and we wanted it at all costs," he said.

"It was a victory we wanted a lot. We changed from the defeat in Turin and proved we are at the same level as Juve," he said.

Totti said that Roma still had a chance to win the Serie A title this season despite being eight points behind Juventus.

"I don't see much of a distance between us, as eight points can be a lot or a little. We are having a great campaign, they are going beyond the limits," he said.
