MCC press release

Doha, May 14: Enthused by the success of the the singing and talent show competitions in May last year, the Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), MCC organized a singing competition this year on Friday, May 12 in the Qatar Malayali Samajam premises.

There was a good response to the competition, especially in the children’s categories. Singing in Konkani was part of the rules.

A panel of four experienced judges, Lancelot D’Souza, Srinivas Rao, Suma Krishna and Charles Dayanand, evaluated the performances.

The names of the winners in various categories are listed below:

Winners of age group 5-11 yrs: 

Solo: (Girls): 1st Place  -  Sana Britto, 2nd Place -  Clarissa Pinto, 3rd Place -  Richelle Andrade

Solo (Boys): 1st Place - Chris Rodrigues, 2nd Place - Glen D’Souza

Winners of age group 12-18 yrs:     

Solo (Girls): 1st Place -  Beverly D’Souza, 2nd Place -  Edel Sequeira

Winners of age group above 19 yrs:

Ladies solo:

1st Place -  Saritha Mendonca, 2nd Place - Sony Rodrigues, 3rd Place -  Caroline Aranha

Men Solo:

1st Place (tie) - Alwyn D’Souza and Rony Arun, 3rd Place - Richard D’Souza

Mixed duet:

1st Place -  Alwyn D’Souza / Sheela Lewis, 2nd Place -  Edward Sequeira /Roshini Alvares, 3rd Place -  Ronald Rodrigues / Saritha Mendonca

Married couple duet: 1st Place - Patrick and Thelma D’Souza

Group Song: 1st Place - Alwyn D’Souza and Group (Sheela Lewis, Sony Rodrigues, Oliver Pereira, Wilfred crasto, Wilfred Lewis and Francis Lobo), 2nd Place - Patrick J. D’Souza and Group (Thelma D’Souza, Wilma D’Souza, Stephanie Rego, Eva Wilma Pinto, Stephen Rego and Luvlyn Pinto), 3rd Place - Ronald Rodrigues and Group (Laveena Rodrigues, Sarita Mendonca, Joyce Alvares, Sunila Lobo, Rony Arun & Fredrick D’Souza)

Talent Show for children, fancy dress (solo) and skit competition for adults will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006.
